The data in iron.dat are derived from a study of iron absorption from soy formula. The data involve measurements made on healthy multiparous women who drank 0.24 L of a soy formula marked with radioactive iron and 3 mg of a solution of ferrous sulphate marked with a different isotope of iron. Of interest here is prediction of iron absorption from hemoglobin level and iron concentration as percent of iron-binding capacity. There is no clean issue of cause and effect here. The blood measurements examined here were all made at the same time. You are free to transform the data as you see fit. It is certainly of interest to know if the iron absorption is related either to hemoglobin level or to the ratio of concentration to binding capacity.
